DHAKA, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- At least four people died, and a dozen were injured in a head-on collision between two passenger ferries amid dense fog on the Meghna River in Bangladesh's Chandpur district, about 115 km southeast of the capital Dhaka, early Friday.
Md Nazmul Islam Sarker, deputy commissioner and district magistrate in Chandpur, told Xinhua over the phone that most of the passengers were asleep when the accident occurred.
Several witnesses told local television channels that the ferries were carrying hundreds of people on board, with many stuck in cabins. ■
