Aerial photo taken on Dec. 1, 2016 shows the Hoh Xil in northwest China's Qinghai Province. Qinghai Province, located in northwest China, much of which lies on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, is the home to the headwaters of the Yangtze, Yellow and Lancang rivers. With a population of 6 million and an area of 720,000 square kilometers, the province has taken on a new look on its ecological environment with efforts spent in environmental improvement. In the past five years Qinghai has poured over 10 billion yuan (1.4 billion U.S. dollars) into ecological protection and restoration of its road and other transportation projects.
